WOORA Interior was established in Tokyo in 2012 by Hana Mori, following a decade of work with leading architectural practices in Japan and Denmark. The name u2014 drawn from the Japanese concept of ura (u88cf), meaning the inner, hidden face of things u2014 reflects a design philosophy rooted in depth rather than surface.u00a0
From the beginning, the studio has operated at the intersection of two great design traditions: the Japanese sensibility of Ma, Wabi-Sabi, and purposeful restraint; and the Scandinavian commitment to warmth, functionality, and democratic beauty.
Today, WOORA works across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors throughout Asia, Europe, and beyond u2014 a team of eighteen designers, architects, and project managers united by a shared belief that the spaces we inhabit shape who we become.
Every element in a WOORA space earns its place. Nothing is arbitrary. Nothing is decorative in the superficial sense u2014 everything serves the whole.
We collaborate with master artisans across Japan, Scandinavia, and Southern Europe, sourcing materials and techniques that will outlast fashion by decades.
The courage to stop. To resist the temptation to add. To trust that the most powerful spaces are those where nothing more could be removed without loss.
We listen first. Your life, your rhythms, your private rituals u2014 these are the brief. The design follows, not the other way around.
Trained at the Tokyo University of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Hana founded WOORA in 2012 with a singular vision: to create spaces that honour both Eastern philosophy and Western craft.
